Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre recently held at its Fine Arts Centre wing, the opening reception of 'Haa', an exhibition by the Kuwaiti artist, Jassim Mohammad Al-Maraj. The exhibition aimed to challenge the understanding of calligraphy beyond its traditional classification amongst the arts to a deeper definition of culture and identity. Al-Maraj began his calligraphy journey through the guidance of calligrapher, Walid Al-Farhoud and later shifted towards more traditional calligraphy under the supervision of Professor's Hassan Chalabi and Dawood Bektash. Al-Maraj is among the co-founders of Kuwait Islamic Arts Centre, where he exhibited his artwork, organized public events, such as symposia and talks, and supervised the publication of numerous books on Islamic arts and architecture.
