Kuwait, 21st June 2026: Kuwait Credit Information Network Company (CINET), the leading and sole provider of credit information and ratings in the State of Kuwait, is celebrating 25 years since its establishment. This milestone represents a journey of transformation and development, during which the company contributed to building one of the most advanced and reliable credit ecosystems in the region.

This occasion serves to shed light on the pivotal role CINET has played since its launch in supporting the financial and banking sector, enhancing transparency levels, and anchoring responsible lending concepts, in line with the rapid economic and technological developments witnessed by the State of Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf region.

The roots of CINET's establishment go back to Decree-Law No. 53 of 1999, which established the regulatory framework for creating a special system to collect information and data related to consumer loans and credit facilities, before the company was officially established as a closed Kuwaiti shareholding company in 2001. Since then, a journey of continuous development for the credit infrastructure in Kuwait began.

Throughout its journey, CINET witnessed milestone moments that reinforced its role as a key enabler for the financial sector, starting from developing credit portfolios and expanding data scope, through launching credit analytics and credit scoring services, up to including bounced check data and 'Buy Now Pay Later' (BNPL) services. This is alongside enhancing integration with government entities and financial institutions within Kuwait and across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) level, in a move that reflected the evolution of the company's role from a data provider to a strategic partner in supporting financial decision-making.

In recent years, the company has also continued to implement transformative initiatives focused on digital transformation, improving data quality, and enhancing consumer protection services, including dispute management and fraud reporting systems. This has contributed to raising the efficiency of the credit ecosystem and strengthening its reliability among various entities and institutions.

On this occasion, Mrs. Alia Bader Al-Humaidhi, Chairperson of CINET, said: “Our celebration today of the 25th anniversary represents more than just a chronological milestone; rather, it embodies a national journey that contributed to developing the credit infrastructure for the State of Kuwait and anchoring concepts of transparency and trust within the financial sector. Over the past years, CINET has succeeded in building an advanced credit information ecosystem based on innovation and reliability, supported by close strategic partnerships with regulatory authorities and financial institutions, which has reinforced its position as a fundamental pillar within the economic ecosystem in Kuwait”.

She added: “We are proud of the qualitative achievements the company has made, which contributed to keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the financial sector. We look forward during the next phase to expanding the scope of solutions and services provided by CINET, thereby enhancing the financial sector's readiness for future requirements and raising the efficiency of the credit environment at both the local and regional levels”.

For her part, Mrs. Mai Bader Al-Owaish, CEO of CINET, said: “Recent years have witnessed a strategic transformation phase in CINET's journey. We focused during this time on expanding data scope, enhancing analytical capabilities, and developing a digital infrastructure that is more agile and prepared for the future. These efforts have reflected on improving the quality of services provided to subscribers and boosting the level of integration with various entities, in a way that keeps pace with the rapid changes in the nature of financial and credit services”.

She added: 'Today, credit information is no longer limited to its traditional role; rather, it has become a strategic tool that supports economic growth, promotes financial inclusion, and raises the efficiency of risk management. From this standpoint, we continue to work on developing advanced solutions that rely on technology and smart analytics, contributing to building a more advanced credit ecosystem capable of supporting the national economy”.

CINET's 25th-anniversary celebration comes at a time when the company continues to strengthen its presence as a comprehensive and advanced source of credit information, backed by a long history of trust, expertise, and innovation, and a future vision centered on supporting digital transformation and enhancing the sustainability of the financial sector in the State of Kuwait.
