FIP Platinum Mexico, the challenge for a place in the top 16 of the Race is on fire
Time is running out, the points at stake are many and precious. From today, and until Saturday 23rd, the FIP Platinum Mexico is being played, with 250 points up for grabs for the winning pairs that could change the hierarchy ahead of the Premier Padel Finals scheduled for 19-22 December in Barcelona. The number 1 seed in the men’s draw are Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini, with the Brazilian currently the first player to be left out of the Finals (he is number 17 in the Race), but with only 40 points to make up on Sanyo Gutierrez, number 3 in the seeding with José Diestro. Number 2 seeded Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo, respectively number 18 and 19 and therefore fully in the running to enter the top 16. If number 4 Maxi Sanchez and Lucho Capra seem to be lagging behind, Pablo Cardona as number 5 on the draw with Javi Garcia must defend his current number 15 position, 157 points ahead of Bergamini.
WOMEN The women’s draw is also battling to get into the Finals. Number 1 seeded are Ale Alonso and Lucia Sainz, with the young Spaniard who is currently number 17 and has to make up a 100-point margin on Aranzazu Osoro. Also fighting for a place in the top 16 is Virginia Riera, who in Mexico (where the last Major of the season will also be played next week) will be paired with Julieta Bidahorria as the number 2 seed, with the podium completed by Lucia Martinez Gomez and Carla Mesa.
