The FW18 Trend Report From Weill Paris

From dawn to dusk..

October 09, 2018:  For her first collection for the Parisian fashion house of Weill, Mathilde Castello Branco proposes a wardrobe illustrating 24 hours in the life of the Parisian woman. A modern versatile collection composed of pieces which are easy to mix and match with the assurance of never committing the slightest error in taste.

The essence of this collection is a certain notion of French chic, a subtle dosage of sophistication and nonchalance.

During the day, materials take on unexpected motifs, as when a cape with large checks marris with a pair of slacks in Prince of Wales check or printed silk adopts a cane work motif inspired by Parisian café chairs. Touches of denim appear everywhere: on a trench coat with mixed buttons bearing the carriage sign of the house of Weill, on a short jacket with a bow-shaped collar, or on a flounced skirt and a reinvented Perfecto jacket. And when it serves as braiding (one of the signature details of the Weill style), it is frayed.

Compelled by winter and tradition, jackets and coats are revisited and given pride of place. A black tweed jacket is sprinkled in white, as if snowflakes remained caught on it, whereas a clever camel coat can change aspect according to the way it is belted.

Throughout the collection the typical winter hues of grey, brown, and black gradually recede with the introduction of more vivid tones, as if announcing the premises of spring.
