As part of its committed social responsibility strategy and contribution to the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness efforts

Kuwait, 30 October 2023 :  In a continued effort to foster physical and mental health across its work environment, Burgan Bank hosted a breast cancer awareness workshop in collaboration with Kuwait Hospital. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Zahra Ismail, Senior General Surgeon at Kuwait Hospital, and Dr. Dalal Al-Aradi, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marden London. The workshop was organized in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Bank’s commitment to empowering its female staff with vital knowledge on health-related matters.

In light of the workshop, Ms. Hessa Hussain Al-Najadah, Senior Manager - Corporate and CSR Communications at Burgan Bank, said: “At Burgan Bank, we always place our employees’ health at the top of our priorities. That’s why it was very important to seize the opportunity during the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention and treatment. In a bid to offer our female staff a valuable and comprehensive awareness session, we were honored to collaborate with Kuwait Hospital, one of the best health institutions in the country. This initiative aligns with our robust corporate social responsibility program and highlights our longstanding commitment to raising awareness about major health issues internally and across the wider community.”
Also commenting on the workshop, Dr. Zahra Ismail, Senior General Surgeon at Kuwait Hospital, said: “We are deeply committed to the health and well-being of our community. Our breast cancer events with our esteemed partners are emblematic of our dedication to raising awareness and offering support to those affected by breast cancer. By sharing knowledge and fostering dialogue, we aim to empower individuals in their healthcare journey. At Kuwait Hospital, we believe that together, we can make a difference and create a brighter, healthier future.”

The workshop, which consisted of a presentation and a Q&A session, went over multiple topics including the importance of running a self-check, the correct means to administer it properly, and the signs of abnormality to look out for. Both doctors also advised the women in the audience to get annual mammogram screenings, especially in case of breast cancer history in the family or starting at the age of 40, which allows for early detection and increases the possibilities of successful treatment journeys. To encourage more Burgan staff to take proactive steps toward receiving adequate medical care, the Bank announced that consultation sessions will be available for booking in October.

It serves to note that Burgan Bank continues to put its employees and public health at the top of its social responsibility program through a wide range of events and initiatives that it dedicates to its staff and their families as well as the wider circles of its community.
