Burgan Bank Raises Awareness About Breast Cancer in Collaboration with Kuwait

Confirming its commitment to the health and safety of its employees

Kuwait, 16 October 2024

As part of the global Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Burgan Bank renewed its partnership with Kuwait Hospital to publish a series of educational videos across its social media platforms throughout the entire month, as well as deliver a breast cancer awareness workshop for its employees at its headquarters. The workshop, delivered by Dr. Zahraa Ismail, General Surgery Consultant, and Dr. Maryam Al-Shatti, Senior Specialist Radiologist at Kuwait Hospital, was attended by a large number of Burgan employees, covering a broad spectrum of breast cancer detection and prevention tips and engaging the attendees in a dynamic Q&A session. The educational workshop comes as part of Burgan Bank’s comprehensive social responsibility program, its committed adherence to the highest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, and its uncompromising care for the mental, physical, and emotional health of all Burgan staff.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to equip our employees with crucial information that enhances their quality of life, we are delighted to collaborate with Kuwait Hospital, one of the top healthcare providers in Kuwait, once again to guarantee the health and wellness of our staff and their families,” said Mrs. Kholoud AlFeeli, Deputy General Manager - Corporate Marketing and Communication at Burgan Bank, commenting on the breast cancer educational workshop. “We believe that educating our employees and raising their awareness about breast cancer is the first and most important line of defense against the risks of this malicious disease. We are honored to be among numerous conscious institutions worldwide participating in the global Pink October awareness efforts, which reflect positively on the lives of individuals and communities.”

On her part, Dr. Zahraa Ismail, General Surgery Consultant at Kuwait Hospital, said: “As medical staff, we spare no effort to provide breast cancer patients with the best care and treatment possible to minimize their physical and emotional pain, and an integral part of these efforts is spreading awareness about the proven methods for detecting and preventing breast cancer. The more commonplace such knowledge is across our society, the higher the chances that breast cancer patients will be able to receive the right care at an early stage or even avoid the disease altogether. We are very proud to collaborate with Burgan Bank for the second year on our shared mission to raise awareness about breast cancer and contribute to the health and wellness of our community.”

To guarantee the efficiency of the educational workshop, Dr. Maryam Al-Shatti, Senior Specialist Radiologist at Kuwait Hospital, delved into the contributing factors that lead to breast cancer and the different means of protection and prevention. She also introduced the attendees to the different breast cancer symptoms they should watch out for and how to administer a correct self-check.

It serves to note that as part of its robust and dynamic social responsibility program, Burgan Bank continues to spread awareness about the different lifestyle choices that contribute to leading a healthier, more fulfilling life. In addition to breast cancer awareness, the Bank has also participated in raising awareness about diabetes, mental health, and the importance of blood donation.
