Extending its social responsibility efforts to bolster Kuwait’s cultural scene Kuwait, 18 October 2023: Adding to a rich series of past collaborations, Burgan Bank announced it is sponsoring Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah’s (DAI) exhibition, “Arabia Felix and Rome: A passage across three seas”, which opened its doors to the public this October and is set to run for one year at the Amricani Cultural Centre (ACC), in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL). This sponsorship comes as part of Burgan’s comprehensive social responsibility program, and in support of efforts to enhance the cultural experience in Kuwait.
“Arabia Felix and Rome” is an immersive experience that explores the land known as Arabia Felix - Latin for fertile or fortunate Arabia - and the fabled kingdoms of South Arabia, now Yemen, that rose to prominence in ancient times due to their control over the production and distribution of highly sought after aromatic resins, such as frankincense and myrrh. The exhibition also narrates the Roman Empire’s interest in Arabia Felix for the region’s natural wealth, as well as the forgotten war that ensued, through an articulate curation and arrangement of 32 artifacts from the Al-Sabah Collection.
Commenting on the Bank’s renewed collaboration with DAI, Mrs. Kholoud Redha AlFeeli, Deputy General Manager - Marketing and Communication at Burgan, said: “We are delighted to resume supporting the work of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah and the NCCAL, which continues to contribute generously to the development and growth of Kuwait’s arts and culture scene. Exhibitions such as ‘Arabia Felix and Rome’ underscore the essential role the arts play in expanding people’s horizons and enriching their perspectives, enabling them to see their history and the world in a new light.” AlFeeli added that Burgan’s social responsibility program remains focused on social investment and community engagement; seeking to foster strategic partnerships with field experts - such as Dar Al Athar Al-Islamiyyah - whose work leaves an irrefutable positive impact on our society and its cultural growth.
