Kuwait, 13, March 2021: To celebrate 2021 International Women’s day and in solidarity with the global movement to uplift and advance the role of women, Al Hamra Business Tower was lit in purple and the women workforce were presented with purple face-masks . Established as a gender balanced employer and business partner, Al Hamra has consistently played a leading role in raising awareness about gender diversity and women economic empowerment within the community. Together, the Al Hamra Shopping Center and iconic Business Tower consists of more than 7,000 employees within business, political and diplomatic leaders and entrepreneurs. The Chief Administrative Officer - CAO of Al Hamra Real Estate Company, Mrs. Abrar Abdulaziz Al Habeeb, stated: “As one of the first companies in Kuwait to have officially endorsed the Women’s Empowerment Principles in 2018, a core part of our National Development plan and the New Kuwait vision 2035, we have since, formally integrated a gender-balanced approach in our business. Internally, Al Hamra has held high-level leadership training programs and regular workshops to ensure these principles are endorsed at every level of the organization. Our commitment to championing this cause remains undeterred and have contributed to an environment that enables and empowers women of all walks of life, both within our organization and in society.”
She further added,” In lieu of the ongoing pandemic, we provided the option for remote working/telecommuting and flexible timings to accommodate the overall safety of our women staff. Today, I am honored to say that the Al Hamra business community comprises of more than 30 % women executives and leaders who have contributed to changing the corporate landscape in the private sector.”
As a proud WEP signatory, Al Hamra also joined hands with UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE and UN Women, in the global campaign ‘Orange the World’ to end violence against women by 2030.
