Kuwait - July 2025 - Gastronomica, the leading name behind some of the region's most distinctive dining experiences, has officially opened the second location of its acclaimed Kuwaiti concept, Mala, in Sabah Al Salem. Following the success of its debut in Khiran, Mala brings its unique blend of nostalgic comfort and modern Kuwaiti cuisine to a new neighbourhood, offering guests an elevated take on beloved local dishes in a space that evokes the soul of Kuwait in the 80s and 90s. Situated in the heart of Al Arjan Complex, this new opening makes Mala's much-loved flavours more accessible to city dwellers and loyal guests alike. Rooted in tradition yet distinctly contemporary, Mala is more than just a restaurant, it's a cultural experience that speaks to both memory and modernity. The interiors are warm, simple and familiar, capturing the essence of Kuwaiti hospitality with a relaxed charm that resonates with both Millennials and Gen Z. On the menu, guests can expect a carefully curated selection of local favourites, reimagined through a refined lens. A standout signature is the Short Rib Machboos—a slow-cooked take on the national dish, where tender beef short rib is served atop fragrant spiced rice infused with dried limes, saffron, and caramelised onions. Other highlights span comforting appetisers, hearty mains, and authentic desserts, all crafted with the same care and intention. 'This new location is a natural evolution for Mala,' says Naveed Dowlatshahi, COO of Gastronomica. 'It allows us to bring a beloved Kuwaiti concept closer to the heart of the city, while continuing to reflect the values that make it special—storytelling, simplicity, and flavour.' With 14 original concepts developed entirely in-house, such as Lazy Cat, OFK and many more. Gastronomica is at the forefront of the region's dining scene. The group continues to shape and elevate the F&B landscape across Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain, guided by a commitment to original culinary experiences and premium hospitality. Mala Sabah Al Salem is now open and welcoming guests for lunch and dinner, seven days a week.
