Kuwait, 13 October 2026: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) continued its efforts to raise awareness of digital fraud through the participation of Mustafa Murad, Assistant Manager – Information Security, Privacy and Anti-Fraud Department at KIB, in an interview on Kuwait TV Channel 2’s (KTV2) “Good Morning Kuwait”. The appearance comes as part of the Bank’s ongoing support for the national “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya) campaign, and focused on helping viewers better understand how fraud methods are evolving and the precautions they can take when using digital services.

Commenting on the importance of spreading awareness, Murad said: “As fraud methods continue to evolve, awareness remains essential to helping individuals recognize potential risks before they become victims. At KIB, we remain committed, through our active participation in the Diraya campaign, to provide the community with practical knowledge that supports more informed decisions and encourages greater caution when dealing with unfamiliar requests, messages, or digital interactions.”

Murad emphasized that continued awareness is particularly important as individuals increasingly rely on digital channels in their everyday lives. Understanding common fraud techniques and knowing the precautions to take can help users respond more carefully to potential threats and better safeguard their personal and financial information.

During the interview, Murad explained how fraudsters can exploit information shared publicly on social media to study potential victims and gradually build their trust before seeking sensitive information. He also addressed AI-enabled impersonation through cloned voices and videos, fraudulent messages posing as government entities or merchants, and the misuse of one-time passwords (OTPs), stressing the importance of verifying requests through official channels and carefully reading OTP messages before authorizing any action. Murad also cautioned against accessing banking applications over public Wi-Fi, in addition to highlighting safer online practices for children and teenagers.

Moreover, Murad stressed the importance of acting without delay when fraud is suspected. He advised customers who still have access to their banking application to secure the affected account and immediately contact their bank, providing as much information as possible about the incident to support the investigation and any subsequent action.

KIB’s participation in an interview on KTV2 forms part of its continued support for the “Let’s Be Aware” campaign, launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) in collaboration with local banks. The Bank continues to support the campaign’s role in promoting banking awareness and strengthening public understanding of financial safety and fraud prevention.
