Committing to economic empowerment of women to spur sustainable growth
Kuwait, 2 October 2018: Al Hamra Real Estate Co., a leader in real estate management, recently joined more than 2000 companies globally to officially endorse the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), vowing to further enable gender diversity across all its projects. The symbolic signing ceremony took place at a high level event, held under the patronage of Her Excellency Mrs. Hind Barak Al-Sabeeh, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour and Minister of State of Economic Affairs on Sunday 1st of October 2018 at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce.
The event, held under the umbrella of Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals - a commitment to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls - was attended by Al Hamra Real Estate Co. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Faisal Khaled Al Houti, leading private sector companies, industry leaders, senior government officials, UN agencies, academic institutions, foreign dignitaries and media representatives.
In endorsing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), Al Hamra Real Estate Co. affirms its commitment to drive a gender-balanced agenda that enables equal opportunities in recruitment, training and development, recognizing that diverse teams lead to higher productivity, profitability, team work, job satisfaction and out of the box thinking, positively contributing to the company’s performance and results.

Al Hamra Real Estate Co.’s participation in the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) is not new to them as it will soon launch an one-of-a-kind girls program named ‘Sout Afkari’, a brand owned signature CSR program that will bring together popular figures from within the community to offer a high quality ‘edu-tainment’ option for girls aged 10-18. ‘Sout Afkari’ aims to spark healthy conversations on critical issues regarding young girls - beauty, identity, love, self-worth, talent, power and the workplace.
Women’s Empowerment Principles is a joint initiative of the UN Global Compact and UN Women, which is now the largest voluntary corporate platform to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community. The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) were launched in Kuwait as part of a partnership between the Secretariat General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, New Kuwait, United Nations Development Programme, UN Women, and Women’s Research and Studies Center, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kuwait University.
